In hindsight

In 2016 we performed at the highly acclaimed Dunsborough Songfest . This was our second appearance and our contribution did not go unnoticed. We prepared and delivered two inventive programs: one, performed in the cathedral was quiet, atmospheric, reflective; the other, the next day, was lively and boisterous. More that 400 people came together to offer their choral delicacies. We enjoyed the weekend as much for the companionship as the music. Our last event for that year was at the Riverton Library's inaugural "Festival of Christmas" on 16th December, We made a featured contribution as well as supported a community-based Pop Up Library Choir. 2017 Ill health forced the hand of Brian in 2017, and we opted for a new structure with a new choir director. With so much change happening it was not surprising that performance took a back seat. We attended the inaugural Guildford Songfest where we delivered a bracket of our familiar standards - and in keeping with the idea of 'tradition' Brian was able to publicly pass the baton on to incoming wunderkind Ryan Nicholson, a young, active, knowledgeable artist himself who sings in many ensembles so he knows his choral music.. We also performed at a charity fund-raising soiree as well as a conclusive Christmas gathering. 2018 We sang at the Denmark Festival of Voice and then the exotic Jordan Dunne became our choir director and we forged forward to both the Guilford and the Dunsborough Songfests. 2019 First the Guilford Songfest and later in November we sang at the Dunsborough Songfest. 2020 Well it was a COVID year but after a bit of a break we returned to singing under new rules. We kept our distance and opened the windows, dropped supper and shortened our session times. Our most significant event this year was singing along with Summerhouse members at the funeral of our wonderful former director, Brian Dawson. 2021 Guilford and Dunsborough Songfests |
